Blair Community Schools teamed with Jackson – Jackson and Associates Inc., several community partners and Metro Community College to revision 14,000 square feet of the existing high school building into a state of the art Industrial Technology Labs for Welding, Construction, Automotive and Small Engines, Robotics, Drafting, and Art that opened in the fall of 2021.
Key design factors were safety and how do we create opportunities for students to develop career paths and life skills. To do this within the existing space, we focused on flexibility, efficiency, space optimization, and function.
>Previous Small Engines Lab 500 sq.ft. - New Automotive Small Engines & Machining Lab – 2,045 sq.ft.
>Previous Construction Lab Area – 3,285 sq.ft. - New Construction Lab – 3,940 sq.ft.
>Previous Welding Area – 475 sq.ft. - New Welding Lab – 2,100 sq.ft. The Welding Lab has 14 welding booths with downdraft welding tables, students are capable of welding with 4 gases, and can take up to 3 college courses.
